Music enthusiasts and fans of Karol G, take heed: the Colombian superstar is signaling the arrival of the summertime with a brand-new song! On June 20, she revealed “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido,” a bubbly merengue tune with pops of color straight from the heart of the Dominican Republic.
Before sharing it with the masses alongside Coke Studio, Karol treated audiences to a tease of the melody during an electrifying show in London. She took to social media platforms to say, “Yesterday in London, I had the joy of presenting a piece of my fresh hit ‘Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido’ and it’s a toss-up what thrilled me more… the dynamic spectators, the opportunity to dance to it live after private rehearsals with my team, or the Dominican flag proudly displayed behind me ♥️.”
Moreover, she praised the Dominican Republic, acknowledging its profound influence on her life and art. Portions of her recent effort “Mañana Será Bonito” were produced there, and she revealed it as her sanctuary for tranquility. “The Dominican culture, its tunes, the dynamic atmosphere, cordiality, and spirit… every element is authentically delightful… I’ve been embraced by the people with warmth, continuously enriching my soul and igniting my creativity,” she wrote. “Today, not only does this song drop, but so does its music video shot on location that captures not just the spirit of this land, but the joy and spirit of our Latino community around the world… jubilant, vibrant, radiant, and inviting!!!! Pedro Artola helmed the music video which casts Karol as a waitress at the charming Verano Rosa Bar. It narrates Karol being coaxed by a co-worker and customers into singing karaoke. She then captivates the audience as she lively performs this new summery hit, a blend of her own creative efforts and the musical wizardry of Edgar Barrera and Sky Rompiendo. The video pulsates with the unbridled spirit of the Dominican Republic, showing locals dancing and reveling joyfully, swaying to the song’s beat. It also honors Latin American culture, spotlighting flags from nations like Brazil, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, among others.
As the future unfolds, Karol is gearing up for her European tour, with performances planned in France, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Portugal, and Spain.
