Mexican Singer Juan Gabriel Will Be Immortalized With A Funko POP

The legendary Mexican entertainer, Juan Gabriel, is set to be commemorated with a Funko POP! figure. This miniature representation of Gabriel will don one of his most unforgettable mariachi ensembles. The Funko POP! illustrates Gabriel sporting a mariachi sombrero embellished with vibrant flowers, a black ensemble, sunshine-hued shirt, emerald cravat, firmly clasping a microphone. Fans will be able to purchase this keepsake starting August 5th, 2024, with advanced orders available on Amazon at a cost of $12.99.

Affectionately dubbed Juanga, or El Divo de Juárez, Juan Gabriel holds a revered place as one of the greatest Mexican vocalists and songwriters ever, famed for melodies such as “Hasta que te conocí”, “Se me olvidó otra vez,” “Abrázame muy fuerte,” and “Amor eterno.” His audacious and vibrant style flouted the norms and defied the standard sober image expected of singers at a time when deviations from this norm were believed to alienate aficionados.

The garb Juan Gabriel flaunts on the Funko POP! is something he has previously worn, but adversaries of this design choice were swift in noting the loss of a chance to capture the entertainer’s quintessential attire, seen in his rendition at el Palacio de Bellas Artes, which was a black mariachi suit with exquisite gold accents.

Yet for some, such is the plethora of his renowned get-ups, the natural course of action would be to create an entire series.

Funko POP! is also enlarging their series with other musical greats, incorporating the likes of Shakira, Carlos Santana, and Michael Jackson. Additional Latin music artists who have received a Funko POP! makeover are J Balvin and Selena. Renowned filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and the erstwhile NBA luminary Carmelo Anthony have also been honored with their own Funko figurines.
